- Start by doing some research as to which physicians are ‘in-network’ with your insurance. this will make sure that you aren’t stuck with any surprise costs.
- Determine what your specific health needs are. If you have children, find a family practice in your area as they will be able to treat everyone in your family of all ages. If you deal with a chronic sondition, there are physicians who specialize inthat treatment. If you are just a single person with no specific health concerns, you can find a general practice doctor.
- Visit the practice’s office that you are thinking of registering with. How far away is the office from work or your home? Do you feel comfortable when you walk in? How does the reception staff treat you? Visiting the practice can help you decide if it’s right for you.
- Ask people you trust, such as close friends and family, for a referral.
